It’s Day 45 of the “2012 Hallow-lean Through New Year’s Dash,” but who’s counting? Actually, I’m not, but this morning when I woke up, I realized it had been a number of days since I’d decided to blog daily with a focus on healthy living. A quick calendar check–45 days since Halloween. I think.
Sometimes original intent morphs into something far greater. That’s what’s happened here. My initial goal was to provide daily inspiration for my clients, my family, my friends–anyone who wanted a healthy living center through the holiday season. The holidays can be busy, distracting, and take people easily off track from where they really want to go. My idea was this would be helpful and a way I could serve them. As my schedule is also more hectic during this time (I’ve been vacationing three times since I’ve started), I was worried I might not be able to follow through with a daily regimen. But I decided to jump.
And, as always, that jump has grown me wings on the way down. What has happened, as always happens when I move with the intent to serve others, I have served myself. As I move through the world, experiencing each moment as fully as possible, moments shape, and I can’t wait to process them through sharing with you.
In so doing, I have gleaned so much. One unexpected payoff is consistency in writing. As a writer, sitting down each day–or most days–is something that has always been challenging for me outside of an academic setting. I’m more of a binge-writer. Daily time demands self-discipline, and feeling a responsibility to the commitment I made, means minimally I’ll be blogging, on top of any other writing I need to do.
Another is monitoring my own healthy habits. Drawing attention to the choices I’m making means I have to be more conscious of those. If I’m suggesting to you daily movement is essential, I feel a responsibility to move my own butt. It helps me prioritize.
Then, there’s the connection I feel, that I expressed to you yesterday in “Gratitude.” This has been another unexpected payoff. Your words telling me something I wrote rang true, helped you, or made you smile makes my heart smile.
So on Day 44, we look forward. If the Mayans are right, I only have 8 more days. I hope not, though, because I’m enjoying this ride with you.
haha…look forward to hearing from you on December 22!! and 23 and 24…..
